Funding options for small businesses

Each structure solves a different problem. Compare how they work, what they cost and what they ask of your business.

How business funding works

Four steps from application to funding. All financing is subject to approval and terms vary by provider and applicant.

  1. Apply

Complete a short application with your business details and recent performance. Most owners finish it in a few minutes.

  2. Review your options

A financing provider reviews your application and supporting documents and determines what may be available.

  3. Choose a financing solution

Compare total cost, payment amount and duration across any offers, and ask questions before you decide.

  4. Receive funding

Once an agreement is signed and conditions are met, funds are disbursed and repayment begins on the agreed schedule.

Why business owners work with Apex Capital Solutions

  • More than one answer. A cash-flow gap, a machine purchase and three overlapping advances are different problems. We work across the full range of financing structures rather than pushing one product.
  • Built around your business. How you earn — daily card sales, net-60 invoices, seasonal peaks — determines which repayment structure is workable. That is where the conversation starts.
  • A simple application. One short form covering your business and its recent performance, rather than a package assembled over weeks.
  • Clear communication. Plain answers on total cost, payment amount, payment frequency and duration, so you can compare offers accurately.
  • No pressure to proceed. Reviewing options does not commit you to financing, and there is no obligation to accept an offer.

Business funding questions, answered

Direct answers to the questions business owners ask most often. More detail is available on the full FAQ page.

What is business funding?

Business funding is capital provided to a business for operating or growth purposes. It covers several structures, including term loans, lines of credit, merchant cash advances, equipment financing, SBA loans and revenue-based financing. They differ in cost, speed, documentation and how repayment behaves when revenue changes.

How does business funding work?

You submit an application with basic business details and recent financial information, usually including business bank statements. A financing provider reviews revenue, time in business, existing obligations and credit, then determines whether to make an offer and on what terms. If you accept, funds are delivered and repayment begins on the agreed schedule. All financing is subject to approval.

What is a merchant cash advance?

A merchant cash advance is the purchase of a fixed amount of your future business receipts, delivered as a lump sum and repaid through a share of daily or weekly sales. It is not a loan, and cost is expressed as a factor rate rather than an interest rate. Read the full explanation.

How much business funding can I qualify for?

Amounts are determined by the financing provider after reviewing a complete application. Revenue is usually the largest factor, alongside time in business, deposit consistency, existing debt and credit. Because every provider underwrites differently, no amount can be indicated before an application is reviewed.

What documents are needed to apply?

Most applications start with three to six months of business bank statements, a completed application, and photo ID for owners holding 20% or more. Larger or longer-term financing typically adds business tax returns, financial statements and a debt schedule. See the full checklist.

How long does the application take?

The application itself is short — most business owners complete it in a few minutes. Review timelines vary by product and provider: revenue-based products reviewed on bank statements move faster than SBA or conventional bank financing, which involves fuller underwriting. No specific timeline can be promised before a complete application is reviewed.

Can I apply with less-than-perfect credit?

Credit is one factor among several, and some products weight recent business revenue more heavily than credit score. Businesses with imperfect credit do sometimes qualify, generally at a higher cost of capital. Approval is never guaranteed and not all applicants qualify.

What is the difference between an MCA and a business loan?

A business loan advances principal repaid with interest on a fixed schedule to a fixed maturity date. A merchant cash advance purchases future receipts at a discount, priced with a factor rate and repaid as a share of sales with no fixed end date. Loans are generally cheaper and slower; advances are generally faster and more expensive. Compare the structures.

Can I use business funding for working capital?

Yes. Working capital — payroll, rent, inventory, suppliers — is one of the most common uses of business financing. Most general-purpose products place few restrictions on use, unlike equipment financing or SBA loans, which have defined use-of-proceeds rules. Read more about working capital financing.

Can I consolidate existing business debt?

In many cases yes. Business debt consolidation replaces several obligations with a single payment, which can reduce weekly outflow. Because a longer term can raise total cost, compare both the payment and the total remaining cost before proceeding. Consolidation is subject to approval.

How does an SBA loan work?

You apply to a participating lender rather than to the SBA. The lender underwrites the loan and obtains a partial government guarantee, which reduces its risk and supports longer terms. You repay the lender directly. The trade-off is a fuller document package and a process measured in weeks. See the SBA overview.
